Would you leave your family to party?
So I’ve been asked by my unmarried friends to go on a destination trip to
Italy. I have a 2 year old boy and a supportive husband and extended family. The question is… would it be selfish of me to take this trip? I just can’t do it. My friends will go with or without me. To be honest, I’d rather be home with my family than to be drinking the night away thousands of miles away from my baby. I have girlfriends who have children even younger than my son and they go on “girls-only” vacations. No judgment… it’s just not me. I take time to myself like going for yoga or planning a whole day with my friends. But, to leave the country? Would you go? And, what are your thoughts on women who go on vacations minus the husband and children (young children).

Blackberry + White Cocolate + Toasted Hazelnuts
4 cups fresh blackberries
1/4 cup sugar, plus 3 tablespoons
1/4 cup cassis
1 1/2 cups very cold heavy cream
3 ounces white chocolate melted
1/4 cup hazelnuts, toasted and chopped
Mint leaves, for garnish
Place berries in a large bowl. Add 1/4 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons cassis, stir well, and let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. Remove half of the berries and mash with fork until pureed. Strain the mixture into a bowl.
Whip heavy cream, 3 tablespoons sugar, and 2 tablespoons cassis in a large bowl until stiff peaks form. Fold in the white chocolate and strained puree and chill for 1 hour.
Layer goblets with berry-cream mixture and whole macerated berries. Sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts and garnish with mint.

Trend Alert: Baggy Jeans + Cuff
I don’t know about this trend?!?! A bit too 80’s for my liking. I like that baggy jeans came back into style, but a rolled cuff? I find this a bit too “I’m a Genie in a bottle – Christina Aguilera” looking. Or, even worse…. MC Hammer!!! When it’s that time of the month I’m sure this look would be much desirable as it is so comfy and relaxed. But, I just can’t see this becoming the new skinny jean. What are your thoughts?

Trend Alert: High Waisted Short
High Waisted Shorts
While this style isn’t the most flattering style on our assets… they do create a waist line, which is great! Pick or choose… nice butt or skinny waist? Wearing this style at parties will just have me with my back to the wall for most of the night. This high waisted short is all the rage with celebrities and I’m starting to see much of this look while strolling down W. 4th Ave (Vancouver’s Lululemon capital of the world). This summer trend is suitable for all ages because older women already wear their shorts up that high anyway and women in their fabulous thirties can show their “I’m still trendy” style. I bought a black pleated pair from Banana Republic… they’re still in my closet L
