Jake the Fake … big Mistake!!!!

I’m sure all the woman around the world joined me in a yelling match with the television this evening.  Is it me, or did Jake come across as a bit abusive-husband-ish?  I feel that Vienna represents majority of women in a relationship.  We want to be loved, acknowledged… have our own opinion.  The smirk on Jake’s face made me want to punch my TV.  We’ve all had our share of assholes in our lives, maybe that is why most of you agree with my urge to reach into the TV and kick him in the balls!  Who really cared about the actual show, The Bachelorette?  I’m sure most tuned in to watch this fight on TV, I mean that’s considered good TV nowadays.  My opinion?  Jake is an asshole and I’m glad Vienna came out first to tell her story because this guy is obviously lying.  Urrrggghhhh!  That smirk!!!! Maybe Tenley would have been a better match for him.

Trend Alert: Off the Shoulder Shirts (OSS)

The 80’s are still here ladies.  What I like most about this look is that it gives a bit of a sex appeal to an already “mommy” look.  Let’s face it, we all wear T-shirts.  And, it is also a bonus that many of these shirts tend to be on the more baggy side.  For a woman in her 30+ I would go for a Shirt that stopped just passed the butt.  Picture having the shirts cutting your butt in half.  Not too baggy and of course not too tight.  Ensure that your jeans  or pant fit properly because most of these shirts are usually that thin cotton that can expose a muffin top like you don’t even know. Enjoy your OSS!

Canada Day Desserts

Canadian Flag Cake (KRAFT recipe)

1 pkg. (298 g) prepared pound cake (cut into 12 slices)
2 cups  boiling water
2 pkg. (85 g each) Jell-O Strawberry Jelly Powder (or cherry)
3 cups  ice cubes
3 cups sliced fresh strawberries, divided
2 cups  thawed Cool Whip Whipped Topping

1. Cover bottom of 13×9-inch dish with cake slices; set aside.

2. Add boiling water to jelly powders in large bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Add ice cubes; stir 3 to 5 min. or until ice is melted. Remove any unmelted ice. Stir in 1 cup strawberries; pour over cake. Refrigerate 15 min. Cover with Cool Whip.

3. Refridgerate 4 hours or until jelly is firm. Arrange remaining berries over dessert to resemble the Canadian flag.

Using a toothpick, trace a maple leaf pattern on top of dessert. Place a strawberry slice on each leaf point, then fill in the leaf with remaining strawberries.

My husband and that damn computer!!!!

Hello!?  Is anyone there?  I’m sure you can relate to this picture.   My husband can spend up to 4 hours straight on his computer.  Thank God we have separate computers because I would never get a chance to use it with the amount of time he spends on the damn thing.  It’s not only the men, I’m sure I have male readers who can relate to this picture as well.  With games on Facebook like Farmville, Mafia Wars, Cafe World etc. people have this new and almost disturbing desire to be socially accepted by people who they have never met.  I wonder if divorce rates and break ups have increased since the explosion of Facebook.  Think about it…. if the amount of cyber time was suddenly replaced with quality interacting time i.e. a date night, do you think maybe less people would be seeking other options, partners or whatever!?!?  Don’t get me wrong, I love to cyber stalk people whom I had a past with, and I enjoy looking at pictures of my friends and family but I could never spend an entire afternoon on my ass playing a silly game.

Filipino Recipe Blogs

filipnio foods, originally uploaded by chichi.style.

1. Panlasang Pinoy – If you search for a Filipino recipe on YouTube,  you will probably get one of this guy’s recipes.  My Tagalog is a bit rough so I have to go onto his website to get the recipe in English.  What I like about his site is that each recipe he posts has a video to accompany it.  I’ve made the casava cake and sisig. Both attempts were successful.  This is a site worth bookmarking.
2. The Pinoy Cook –  Connie Veneracion writes about  meals she cooks for her family. She is not a chef.  She is  a retired lawyer and, currently, an independent web publisher, op-ed columnist, food columnist and magazine writer.
3. Filipino Food Lovers – This site is a Filipino recipe Blog where Filipinos can share recipes and exchange ideas about cooking their delicious, native dishes. Although this is mainly focused on Philippine cuisine, I’m not leaving out the western cuisine. Having said that I’m also going to include American food on this recipe blog site for the ones who wish to serve their family American food, and yes everyone is welcome to this site.
4. Pinoy Food Blog – Noemi Lardizabal-Dado blogs about popular filipino recipes.  She claims that she learned to cook at 21 years old.  She show cases recipes such as food for the goods and lasagna.  I refer to her blog quite a bit when cooking my Filipino dishes.
5. Visual Recipes – Filipino – A step-by-step guide with plenty of pictures to illustrate the process in making several Filipino recipes.   I especially liked the recipe for Fresh Lumpia (Lumpiang Sariwa)

Trend Alert: Corset Belts

Like any belted look I would suggest that you keep your outfit fitted.  I also suggest that a monochromatic look (same tones / similar colours) would work best when accenting with a corset belt.  A corset belt can be worn over a T-shirt, dress, button-up, fitted cardigan, etc.  Just remember to keep that outfit fitted.  As far as belt colours go, that is up to you and how daring you can be with colours.  If all else fails, buy a black belt.  Another thing to consider is the way the belt fits you.  Keep in mind where your flubba-bubba is and be aware if those love handles are spilling out of the sides.  These belts come in a variety of sizes so try them on before you buy them and look in the mirror.  When looking in the mirror, sit down, stand up and bend over… this is to ensure that you feel comfortable in the belt and that your flubbies are not saying hello to the world.
